BC Wildfire Service responds to small blaze in central Vancouver Island

Coastal Fire Centre: Fire not expected to grow

BC Wildfire Service is responding to a small wildfire in the Moriarty Creek area, north of the Englishman River on Vancouver Island.

The fire is currently being held and is 0.02 hectares in size, according to the Coastal Fire Centre.

Nine firefighters and a water tender are containing the blaze.

It is not expected to grow, based on the current conditions and resources.

Human activity is the fire’s suspected cause.
