Beachcombers Academy is offering a bursary for a family who would like their children to attend Beachcombers, but would not otherwise be able to afford to do so.

The bursary applies to primary school-aged children.

“As a small school, we are only able to provide a limited number of bursaries. This is a wonderful opportunity for a Comox Valley family,” said principal Wendy Preston.

“Beachcombers also makes an effort to be as accessible as possible to all families who wish their children to attend.”

An open house is set for Thursday, Aug. 30 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. However, interested families are recommended to contact the school in advance of the open house.

Beachcombers Academy is operated by Beachcombers Education Society, a non-profit society. It was started by local educators and parents to provide a nature-based academic program with small class sizes. The school, now in its ninth year of operation, offers preschool through Grade 7.

The school has unique programming including coastal studies, a respect and kindness program and coastal sports.

Beachcombers has expanded its bus service to include a Comox pickup. The bus also picks up in Courtenay, Royston, Union Bay, and Buckley Bay for Denman students.
