A serious crash involving a logging truck and a pickup truck closed the northbound on-ramp to Highway 19 off Cumberland Road Tuesday (May 24) afternoon for more than five hours.

A logging truck lost its load on top of a truck around 3 p.m. and emergency personnel attended the scene including the Cumberland Fire Department and the Comox Valley RCMP

According to reports, two people were inside the pickup truck at the time, and one person had to be extracted by firefighters.

Later in the afternoon, a coroner was seen arriving at the site. Comox Valley RCMP has not released any further information about the incident.

The incident was cleared and the northbound on-ramp reopened around 9:20 p.m.
