A FAST-MOVING bush fire near Highland Secondary School was contained Tuesday by the Comox Fire Department.

Comox firefighters had to act fast to snuff a bush fire on Pritchard Road on Tuesday afternoon.

"Upon arrival we found a very fast-moving fire with heavy smoke covering Pritchard Road," says chief Gord Schreiner.

Comox Fire Rescue sent its entire fleet of three fire engines and quickly got the fire under control.

"We requested the use of Courtenay Fire Department tanker but were able to establish a hydrant water supply before they arrived. This fire could have been very serious if not for the fast action of the fire department."

The cause is under investigation, but it is suspicious, Schreiner added.
