City of Courtenay staff will prepare a report about land uses in the downtown core — in relation to using land for a homeless shelter.Mayor Larry Jangula brought forward a proposed resolution to Monday's council meeting: "That staff be directed to initiate the amendment of Commercial One Zone (C-1) to ensure homeless shelters are not a permitted use within this zone."After some debate, a motion was passed to have City staff prepare a report to council regarding C-1 zoning, including an analysis of the zone and permitted uses and definitions.This motion was passed with Couns. Doug Hillian and Ronna-Rae Leonard in opposition.
