The City of Courtenay is proceeding with legal action against the owners of the Maple Pool Campground and RV Site on Headquarters Road.
Campsite owners Dali and Jin Lin operate a Community Living Project for upwards of 50 low-income earners, seniors and disabled individuals. Some had been homeless before moving to Maple Pool, where tenants can rent trailers at about $350 per month.
The campsite sits on a floodplain. The city's issue is non-conforming land use under the zoning bylaw.
"Our lawyers are talking with their lawyers about legal processes starting this fall," City CAO Sandy Gray said this week. "It is going through the court registry system. From what I heard we're looking at an October timeframe when we start doing things like examinations for discovery."
