It was not unanimous, but Comox council endorsed the amended Regional Growth Strategy bylaw last week.

Coun. Marcia Turner opposes Settlement Expansion Areas while Coun. Ken Grant is against servicing agreements.  

The bylaw was to appear before the regional district board on Tuesday for receipt and final bylaw revisions, after which it can be referred to neighbouring regional districts and local governments for final acceptance.

Turner was appointed to the Comox Valley housing and homelessness standing committee, from which Coun. Tom Grant resigned last month. Grant had served as chair of the committee.

Council issued a permit for a residential development in Lancaster Heights, where Vancouver-based Pacific Capital Real Estate Group plans to construct 58 townhouses and 38 duplexes by 2012. The project had drawn numerous complaints from area residents concerned about density, design and traffic.
