The Comox Valley Airport, in partnership with the CV/Arts, is pleased to announce the opening of a brand-new exhibit, encompassing the theme of Renewal.

Each year artists within the airport’s extensive mid-to-northern Island catchment are invited to submit work reflecting a particular theme to CV/Arts to adjudicate for their annual airport show. With most of the world in a holding pattern throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, artists were given the gift of time to explore new techniques and approaches to expression.

Now, as the restrictions on travel and gathering are lifting, the anticipation of reuniting with loved ones and exploring the Island is an opportunity to explore the show’s theme of Renewal.

“We always look forward to the arrival of new works, and are very fortunate to have such a wealth of talent to display,” said Comox Valley Airport’s CEO Mike Atkins.

“The renewal theme really resonates with us, as our industry emerges from these challenging times, it is wonderful to commemorate the return to normalcy with a celebratory display for both departing and arriving passengers to enjoy.”

This year there are three options for viewing the show: fully vaccinated members of the public and passengers are welcome to visit the terminal to view the show in person, and there are two options to view the show remotely: via the airport’s website, or via CV Art’s online gallery, featuring the works as well as videos of the artists speaking about their process and inspiration.

The Renewal show will be on display at Comox Valley Airport until April 17, 2022.
