Since the beginning of 2012, the Comox Valley RCMP have issued over 260 violation tickets to people using electronic devices while driving.
Police remind drivers that it is an offence under the British Columbia Motor Vehicle Act to operate, view or hold cell phones or
other electronic devices while driving. Drivers are reminded to pull over, park in a safe and legal manner before using any electronic device.
To ensure everyone's safety on the roads we are asking for the public's assistance by:
• Slowing down and driving relative to the road conditions;
• Planning ahead and making arrangements for designated drivers or taxis;
• Encouraging pedestrians to wear bright, visible clothing and use marked crosswalks;
• Not using electronic devices while driving.
