The Comox Valley Regional District is excited to announce Jennifer Nelson will be joining the team as the new chief financial officer (CFO) on Jan. 4. As the CFO, Nelson will lead the financial, accounting, insurance, procurement, asset management and contracting functions for the organization, and will be key in ensuring an integrated approach aligning to the CVRD board’s strategic priorities.
Nelson comes to the CVRD from the City of Courtenay, where she has been director of financial services since 2018. She oversaw all operations within the financial services department. Nelson started with the city in 2003 and increased her responsibilities over that time. She has a deep background in financial planning and working with the public. Holding a CPA, CGA and being a member of the Government Financial Officers Association, Nelson will continue to ensure a strong financial position and strategic direction for the CVRD.
“Ensuring effective financial planning and fiscal responsibility is a top priority for the CVRD,” said Russell Dyson, chief administrative officer. “We are excited to have Jennifer as part of our team. Our goal is to always deliver affordable top quality services to our residents.”
