The Comox Valley Regional District now offers four sledges and accessories available for use at the Comox Valley Sports Centre arenas to help make ice sports more accessible. The two child and two adult sized sledges were funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Enabling Accessibility Fund program.

The equipment is available for free use at public programs such as everyone welcome skates, drop-in hockey, and for private rentals such as adult hockey groups or birthday parties.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide more accessible ice options for our community,” said Jennifer Zbinden, senior manager of recreation services. “Providing opportunities for everyone to enjoy active living in our community is something we strive for daily.”

Come try out the equipment during your next ice visit.
