Three people were arrested – including a Comox resident – after shots were fired and a neighbourhood was evacuated in Campbell River Sunday night.

At 11:28 pm, Campbell River RCMP responded to a complaint of shots fired in the 3700 block of the South Island Highway between Jubilee Parkway and Colorado Drive. Neighbours who heard the shots made multiple 911 calls, guided officers to a specific residence, Cpl Poppy Hallam said in a press release.

All available police resources responded to the call and contained the area. Upon police arrival, a male and a female exited the residence, however a 16-year-old male stayed inside. The RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) was deployed along with the police service dog.

Out of an abundance of caution, neighbours were temporarily evacuated from their homes, Hallam said.

At approximately 3 a.m., the male exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

At this time, this investigation is still active. All three involved are currently in police custody. A 19-year-old Campbell River man, a 19-year-old Comox woman and a 16-year-old Campbell River man may be facing firearms related charges.

"No one was hurt in this incident and police appreciate the public’s cooperation and assistance while this incident unfolded," Hallam said.

If you have any information about this incident or were a witness and have not spoken with a police officer, call the Campbell River RCMP at (250) 286-6221.
