Courtenay man arrested by RCMP sensitized to many vehicle thefts

A 36-year-old Courtenay man remains in custody after Comox Valley RCMP responded Sunday to a man acting suspiciously around a truck.

A 36-year-old Courtenay man remains in custody after Comox Valley RCMP responded Sunday to a man acting suspiciously around a truck.

Around 1 a.m. on Feb. 2, RCMP members went to the Galloway Crescent area of Courtenay in an effort to locate the man, being aware of many thefts from vehicles reported in recent months.

General duty members, along with the Police Dog Section, gathered information that led to the arrest of a man in the Tull Avenue area of Courtenay. This man is known to the

police, having had many convictions for theft, and only recently released from jail in November.

This latest investigation is ongoing.
