Former School District 71 chair Rick Grinham handily won the right to represent Cumberland, becoming a trustee again after a three-year absence.
After the Village of Cumberland initially reported Saturday night that Yolanda Goodwin had easily defeated Grinham 832-193 in the only Comox Valley school board seat not already determined by acclamation, chief election officer Joanne Rees later announced Grinham had prevailed.
Grinham did not seek re-election to the school board three years ago, instead finishing not far behind Fred Bates in the Cumberland mayoral race.
