As a result of complaints following the December snow storm, Comox Valley Regional District Area B director Rod Nichol is calling for a review of the terms of the road maintenance contract with Emcon.
The Ministry of Transportation contracts Emcon for road maintenance in the COmox Valley.
The Record received numerous complaints regarding rural snow removal after the aforementioned storm. In correspondence with Nichol, he confirmed he had nearly two dozen separate complaints as well, precipitating this action.
There were some road clearing issues with this past weekend’s snowfall as well. The school district had to cancel classes at Huband Park Elementary on Monday. The SD71 website stated unplowed roads as the reason for the cancellation.
The CVRD electoral area services committee meeting takes place at the CVRD office, at 550B Comox Road, Courtenay, Monday at 10 a.m. It is a public meeting.
