The Comox Valley Regional District requires all dogs over six months of age to be licensed every year in Electoral Area A – Baynes Sound (except Hornby and Denman), Electoral Area B – Lazo North, and Electoral Area C – Puntledge and Black Creek.

Dog licences are now available for 2022. Licences are valid from Jan. 1 until Dec. 31 each year. Residents who live in the City of Courtenay, Town of Comox and Village of Cumberland need to contact their municipal office to obtain a dog licence.

The cost to license a spayed or neutered dog is $10, and for a non-spayed or neutered dog is $25.

“Dog licences help ensure that your lost pet quickly finds its way back home,” says Amanda Yasinski, manager of bylaw compliance with the CVRD. “Within the CVRD electoral areas, all dogs require a licence if they are over six months old.”
