The Comox Valley community embraced Breanna Brosko’s Adopt A Grandparent initiative, and because of it, dozens of local seniors at a couple of area nursing homes were smiling a little brighter this Christmas.
Last month, Brosko erected a Christmas tree at the Cliffe Avenue A&W, adorned with tags, each bearing the name of a senior in the community.
People were invited to drop by the restaurant, pick a tag off the tree, and purchase a gift for the name on the tag.
On Dec. 23, Brosko and other members of the 1st Cumberland Pathfinders (a branch of the Girl Guides of Canada) delivered more than 60 presents to seniors living in the Cumberland Lodge and Glacier View Lodge.
“It was such and amazing and rewarding experience,” said April Bosko, of the 1st Cumberland Pathfinders. “Many of the seniors were moved to tears and so appreciative of both the gifts and the time the girls in our Pathfinder unit spent delivering them and chatting with them.”
Glacier View Lodge recognized Breanna’s efforts on its Facebook page.
“We are truly thankful for the gifts and the visit, and we are blessed to witness the kindness and generosity that Brianna and the other Pathfinders have shown!”
