Festival of Trees raises $145K for Vancouver Island's sick kids

Holiday charity campaign at Victoria's Bay Centre benefits Island patients at BC Children’s Hospital

The annual Festival of Trees Victoria raised $145,000 for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, bringing the total raised since the Bay Centre began hosting the event to over $1.6 million.

This year’s festival transformed the Bay Centre into one of Vancouver Island’s largest Christmas tree displays, attracting more than 650,000 attendees and featuring 91 trees decorated by local businesses.

The People’s Choice award went to the tree sponsored and decorated by Experience Victoria and Regent Transportation.

For the first time, the Bay Centre took on production responsibilities for the event, introducing several new features, including refreshed branding, a dedicated Festival of Trees Victoria landing page with enhanced sponsor recognition, a visitor map, flexible decorating days, and a vote-by-donation system powered by Peloton Technologies. These changes contributed to the highest onsite voting revenue to date.

In 2023, 3,379 children from Vancouver Island received care at BC Children’s Hospital, averaging more than nine children daily. Funds raised through the Festival of Trees help support critical care for Island families.
