Fiesta World Craft Bazaar is returning to the Comox Valley.
On Nov. 16 and 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Fiesta will transform both floors of the Filberg Centre in downtown Courtenay into a global shopping experience like no other! The goodwill and connections that take place between the vendors and the artisans allow anyone to make ethical fair trade and eco-friendly purchases.
On Fiesta's 32nd year, there are again several new vendors. Agnes will be selling the softest, cuddliest alpaca teddy bears from a women's cooperative in Peru. Julia of SpaZa, a South African word for an informal store selling everyday household items, will be introducing Halo Dish Covers and other useful beautifully designed items. Copper will be bringing her Savary Island Fair Trade store, which features a wide variety of global indigenous products.
Shelley will be fresh back from Nepal with funny hats and slippers and more. Yakine from Tunisia brings gorgeous hand-carved olive wood chess sets and kitchenware. Jenny has a lovely variety of colourful Kenyan baskets. Margaret of Didibahini will come with distinctive handmade jewellery and accessories from Nepal. Valentina supports women in her home country of Colombia by selling their traditional handicrafts, including colourful bags. Ado sells striking organic tablecloths from Uganda. Gathering Place will bring you the spices and teas that you crave!
The Glacier Grannies will again amaze shoppers with their creativity and talents. Roberta and her "Sock It To 'em" team will be selling hand-knit socks with all funds raised supporting our Valley's unhoused.
Three popular food trucks will serve up savoury Ethiopian and El Salvadorian dishes along with mini doughnuts. Bring smiles and $2 and shop the world. Visit the website at fiestaworldcraftbazaar.org for more information.
