Former judge presenting 2014 lecture on restorative justice

A noted Saskatchewan jurist and writer presents this year's Iona Campagnolo Lecture on Restorative Justice on Thursday.

Judge Ross Green, a noted Saskatchewan jurist and writer, presents this year's Iona Campagnolo Lecture on Restorative Justice Thursday in the Stan Hagen Theatre at North Island College.

Green is the author of two influential books on aboriginal, youth and restorative justice. He will explore its changing and broadening roles in the criminal justice system.

A growing trend during the past 30 years, restorative justice holds a respected healing place in the legal system and in the community. Green says it's an effective means of redressing criminal harms for victims and accused.

The annual lecture was established in honour of the career and public contributions of Campagnolo, B.C.'s first female lieutenant-governor.

The Comox Valley resident serves as patron of the Community Justice Centre.

The lecture begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
