Former premier Ujjal Dosanjh will be the guest speaker Feb. 23 at a fundraising dinner in Courtenay.
The Vancouver south MP will speak at the Golden Carriage restaurant in Courtenay, the Vancouver Island North Liberal Association said in a news release.
Dosanjh has been a federal Opposition critic of national defence, public safety and foreign affairs. He has served on the standing committee of international development, the committee on public safety and national security, the committee on foreign affairs and international development and the committee on the Canadian mission in Afghanistan.
Since January 2009, he has been a member of the committee on justice and human rights. Between July 2004 and January 2006, during the 38th Parliament, when his party formed the federal government, Dosanjh served as minister of health. He was the 33rd premier of B.C. until June 2001.
Also present at the dinner will be Mike Holland, the federal Liberal candidate for Vancouver Island North.
