Hotel might happen

Construction could begin this year on a hotel and restaurant proposed at the Comox marina, depending on the outcome of a “pre-sale program” the property owner intends on initiating in the spring.

If all goes well, Comox Bay Investments will apply for a building permit, company president Mike Hawitt said.

The company proposes to construct a three-storey building at the site once occupied by the Pier Pub and Bistro, which burned to the ground last year.

The hotel proposal includes 62 units plus 14 lockoffs, or units that can be converted into two suites.

The project is also to include one level of underground parking and a surface parking lot to accommodate hotel and marina patrons.
