Comox Valley RCMP are asking for the public's help to solve a hit-and-run two-vehicle collision.
RCMP received a report on the evening of July 24 about an
"offending vehicle", a small dark-coloured van, leaving the scene of a collision. The collision occurred on Left Road at Rennie Road in the Merville area, Const. D.A. Sinclair says in a news release.
"The complainant reports that they were travelling on Left Road and making a turn onto Rennie Road when the vehicle approaching them swerved into their lane and contacted their vehicle on the front driver's side and door," Sinclair says.
Police attended and while at the scene were called to a van on fire a short distance away. The owner of the burning van was located nearby and was taken into custody.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is continuing.
The public are requested to contact police if they have information about this collision or know the identity of the driver of the offending vehicle.
