A Comox business is giving the Canadian Cancer Society Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock one final fundraising boost the day before the ride gets underway.

Peninsula Co-op Gas & Convenience Centre located at 699 Aspen Rd is hosting a final hot dog sale for the ride from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 22.

The gas station has raised $3,000 for the ride, which is an annual event where law enforcement and emergency services personnel cycle 14 days and 1,200km across Vancouver Island raising money for childhood cancer research and support services and the Canadian Cancer Society.

Their goal with the hot dog sale is to raise an additional $500.

The ride begins on September 23 in Port Alice and wraps up Oct. 6 in Victoria.

Ajinkya Chodankar, a member of Courtenay Fire Rescue, is representing the Comox Valley on the ride. His personal fundraising goal for the ride is set at $15,000, and as of Sept. 18, he has raised $14,849.
