Man caught with guns in Courtenay

A Comox Valley resident is facing numerous charges after being checked by police in a parked vehicle in Courtenay on Tuesday evening.

A Comox Valley resident is facing numerous charges after being checked by police in a parked vehicle in Courtenay on Tuesday evening.

Harley Richard Robinson, 33, is facing seven charges including possession of a loaded/restricted firearm, possession of a firearm without a valid licence and possession of a controlled substance: oxycodene.

According to RCMP, shortly before 9 p.m. April 26, an officer observed a vehicle parked suspiciously roadside in the 800 block of McPhee Avenue.

Further investigation investigation into the sole occupant and the vehicle led the officers involved to two loaded handgun, a Baretta 9 mm and a Glock 9 mm.

Both handguns had been reported stolen from Campbell River in 2010.

Robinson remains in custody at this time.
