Man robs Courtenay business Sunday morning

Comox Valley RCMP is looking for assistance from the public to identify a suspect in a robbery that occurred at a business in the 2700-block of Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay.

Police are looking for this suspect in a robbery that occurred Sunday at a business in the 2700-block of Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay.

Comox Valley RCMP is looking for assistance from the public to identify a suspect in a robbery that occurred at a business in the 2700-block of Cliffe Avenue in Courtenay.

On Sunday, Aug. 16 at approximately 8:25 a.m., a man entered the business, showed the employee a weapon, and then demanded all of the money from the cash drawer. The suspect was last seen running through the alleyway in behind the businesses.

The suspect is a Caucasian man 40-50 years old, about 5’8”, with a light coloured moustache. He was wearing sunglasses, a black hoodie with blue jeans and had his face covered by a black handkerchief with a white spider web design.

“Frontline members were assisted by Police Dog Services and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section at the scene,” said Const. Monika Terragni, media relations officer, Comox Valley RCMP. “They are still working to gather additional evidence and would appreciate hearing from anyone who may have seen the suspect before or after the robbery.”
