Comox Valley residents will have a chance to find out more about the proposed Thrifty Foods development at the corner of Ryan and Lerwick roads next week.
The City of Courtenay will host a public information meeting for the project Wednesday at the Florence Filberg Centre conference hall starting at 6:30 p.m.
The first half hour of the meeting will be an open house format featuring display boards and representatives from the applicant and from the City.
There will be a presentation at 7 p.m. by the applicant's representative to address the issues that have been raised by the community, including sound attenuation treatments between the project and the residences on Somerset Lane and access onto Royal Way by Bristol Way.
There will be a question and answer period, and City staff will be around to speak with people after the presentation.
This application has drawn a lot of attention in the community.
"We received a number of e-mails and inquiries as a staff, including a petition with more than 250 names written on it," said Peter Crawford, Courtenay's director of planning services.
In March, Thrifty Foods confirmed that it will open a second location in the Comox Valley, anchoring a new shopping centre at the corner of Ryan and Lerwick roads.
The city has received an application for a development permit for a 90,000-square foot project.
