The Town of Comox is cancelling Comox Nautical Days this year due to the ongoing challenges with the pandemic.

The event held annually in Marina Park for more than 60 years during the B.C. Day long weekend, features live music and performances, an extensive range of arts and crafts booths, fireworks and family-fun activities, attracting thousands to the park each year.

“Events of this nature require a great deal of lead time and planning to be successful, and with the restrictions around mass gatherings still in place for the foreseeable future, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel it for another year,” said Mayor Russ Arnott.

The 2020 Nautical Days event was also cancelled last spring in response to Provincial Health Orders and COVID-19 restrictions.

“There will be some internal management work occurring over the year to ensure that we hit the ground running in 2022 and come back better than ever,” noted Arnott.

“Nautical Days is an important event for our community, and we are dedicated to ensuring it continues to be an accessible experience where families and friends of all ages can come together to celebrate in Comox.”
