The Comox Valley RCMP have arrested two young men in connection with thefts from vehicles, police said Wednesday.
On April 13, the Comox Valley Record published a photograph of the two suspects lurking around parked cars in residential neighborhoods in Courtenay. Several members of the public were
able to identify the suspects from this photograph and contacted police.
On April 19, Reuben Walker-Hough, 18, and Gaered Petryuk, 21, of Courtenay were arrested and have each been charged with
possession of stolen property. A search warrant was executed at their residence and several stolen items were recovered including GPS units, MP3 players and other electronic devices.
The investigation is ongoing and further charges are expected.
The Comox Valley RCMP remind the public that locking your vehicle and removing all of your valuables from your vehicle is the easiest way to prevent this kind of crime.
