The public is invited to attend a Saturday reception to open a picnic pavilion at Coal Creek Historic Park, about a kilometre west of downtown Cumberland.
The pavilion commemorates Cumberland's Chinatown that was a thriving community from about 1888 to the late-1960s.
A gathering will proceed from the Village office to the pavilion site as a motorcade at 1:30 p.m. An opening ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be served at 3 p.m. at the Cumberland Cultural Centre at 2674 Dunsmuir Ave.
The event happens this weekend and has not already happened, as we mistakenly said in our Cumberland: Village in the Forest insert in Wednesday's paper.
