Hot Honda
The Comox Valley RCMP received a call regarding the theft of a green 1996 Honda Accord bearing British Columbia license plate ET953 on Sept 8 (pictured above). The vehicle was last seen on the 400 block of Eighth Street, Courtenay. If you see this vehicle, contact the Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321 and cite file number 2017-13211.
Lock your car doors
For the week of Sept. 5-12, the Comox Valley RCMP responded to 25 calls for theft from vehicles. Items taken from these vehicles this week included, an iPod, a full set of rims and tires, licence plates, DVDs, cash/change, a lotto ticket, cell phones, sunglasses, prescription glasses, a VHF radio, coffee cards, a wallet, a pocket knife, a passport, a NEXUS card. The Comox Valley RCMP is reminding people to keep your car doors locked, and report any thefts or instances where your vehicle has been entered, this allows us to update our crime statistics and look for trends.
Bikes popular with thieves
From Sept. 5-11, the Comox Valley RCMP received 12 reports of stolen bicycles. The following bikes are still outstanding:
Sept. 6 – Powder Gray men’s Norco Sasquatch 21 speed mountain bike (2017-13062)
Sept. 7 – Black Avigo BMX boy’s bike (2017-13140)
Sept. 7 – Green and White Velo Sport 21 speed mountain bike (2017-13157)
Sept. 8 – Red Trek Mountain bike with front shocks, green paniers, a headlight and bell (2017-13201)
Sept. 10 — Green Nishiki Monster 18-speed mountain bike (2017-13307)
Sept. 11 — Gray specialized Stump Jumper 27-speed with full suspension (2017-13350)
Sept. 11 — Purple Marin Mountain bike with black handle bars and front shocks (2017-13353)
Sept. 11 — White and gray Giant Rapid 3 road bike. (2017-13361)
Sept. 11 — Black Raleigh women’s 15-speed mountain bike with black saddle bags (2017-13365)
The Comox Valley RCMP reminds bike owners to record the serial numbers and good descriptions of bikes. With the serial numbers, the bikes can be entered onto the RCMP computer system. This will aid in getting your bike back to you if it is located. Apps, like 529 Garage, are great to use to gather all the appropriate information and photos.
Stolen boat motors
On Sept. 5, the Comox Valley RCMP received a report of stolen boat motors from Catherwood Road, in Oyster River. Sometime in the past few days, an unknown person(s) had cut securing cables and removed two boat motors from the rear of the boat. One outboard boat motor is a black, Mercury 15 hp motor and the other is a grey and red Mariner
2 hp motor. (2017-13009)
Driver wouldn’t blow
The manner in which a vehicle was being operated caught the attention of a concerned citizen during the evening hours of Sept. 7. The Comox Valley RCMP were advised, and the vehicle was located. During a traffic stop, an impaired operation of a motor vehicle investigation was started. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside priving prohibition for failing to provide a breath sample. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2017-13175)
Vandalized vehicle
A mischief to a vehicle was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on Sept. 9. The vehicle had been parked for a few hours at the bottom of Strathcona Parkway, near Highway 19. While there, windows had been smashed, the headlights and tail lights were broken and the instrument panel on the dashboard was pulled open. The Integrated Forensic Identification Section is assisting with this investigation. (2017-13262)
Mischief to a business located on the 4600 block of Cumberland Road in Cumberland was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on September 9th. Sometime overnight, unknown person(s) had attempted to break into a coin box at the business. The Integrated Forensic Identification Section is assisting with this investigation. (2017-1326)
