Reports of shots fired in Hobson neighbourhood in Courtenay

Several RCMP officers were on hand scouring the bushes at Hobson Park Saturday afternoon, after reports of shots being fired in the neighbourhood Friday night.

The shots were reportedly heard at around 10 p.m., although none of the residents Record staff spoke to heard them.

On Monday afternoon, RCMP said they received several reports of a shot being fired in the area of Hobson Park, Friday at around 11:20 p.m. Officers went to the area, spoke with several residents, and walked through the park and surrounding streets; however, they were unable to locate any further evidence.

On Saturday, a resident in the area reported that a bullet appeared to have gone into an outside wall of their residence. Nobody was injured, and no suspects have been located or identified. Police do not believe that this residence was the target of the shot being fired.

The Comox Valley RCMP continues its investigation, and is seeking any witnesses to this shot being fired. Police request that residents in the area of the park check any home surveillance footage, and advise of any suspicious people or vehicles that were in the area at the time.
