THE RIPTIDE CELEBRATE a big win in Victoria that qualified them for the Provincial A-Cup championship.

It was one heck of a run to get there, but the Upper Island Soccer Association Riptide U-14 boys prevailed in two play-off games last weekend to become the Vancouver Island champions in B.C. Youth Soccer’s  Provincial  A-Cup competition.

It was an extremely demanding and rewarding weekend, beginning with an awesome team showing on Friday night in Ladysmith (the lads were unstoppable) to the long drive and difficult game on Sunday in Victoria.

Despite the tight turn-around, the result on Sunday came out in the Riptide's favour and ensured they will compete in the provincial final.

Shel Brodsgaard, Riptide organization Technical Director, said of this team, “The commitment level of this entire group has been tremendous from the start of the season forward, bringing the success that you deserve!"

Brodsgaard emphasized that it has taken many years effort for this group to achieve this success, supported by their parents, and all current and former coaches, trainers, team managers and other club volunteers along the way who have contributed to the success of this team.

The Riptide were at the Surrey Mayor's Cup tournament this past weekend where they played four games against top-ranked Lower Mainland Metro teams as a tune-up for the B.C. championships.
