On April 3, a man entered a business in Courtenay and demanded all the money from behind the counter. This man has been identified, arrested, and charged with robbery.
The Comox Valley RCMP Major Crime Unit picked up the investigation. With assistance from the Integrated Forensic Identification Section, Police Dog Services, Comox Valley RCMP Street Crimes Unit, frontline members and tips from the public, the unit was able to identify a suspect.
“Investigators worked tirelessly to identify a suspect in this case,” said Cpl. Matt Holst of the Major Crime Unit. “There were a lot of long hours that went into this investigation, including the execution of search warrants, surveillance, and examining video footage from multiple local businesses.”
On April 27, unit members arrested the suspect for robbery. He was held in custody where he remains.
The Comox Valley RCMP did not release the name of the man who was charged.
