A variety of COVID-19 exposures have been reported in both classrooms and flights in the Comox Valley.

Since the beginning of November, a number of schools - both independent and within School District 71 - have had potential exposures in schools, according to Island Health.

Within the district, exposures include Aspen Park Elementary in Comox (Nov. 4 and 5); Royston Elementary (Nov. 2 and 8) and Queneesh Elementary (Nov.2).

According to the BC School Covid Tracker website, Highland Secondary School in Comox also had an exposure on Nov. 8.

On Nov. 2 and 8, Gaglardi Academy in Comox had two COVID-19 exposures and according to the COVID tracker website, a full grade is in isolation and is doing online learning.

Close contacts at school will be contacted directly by Island Health public health. Island Health will post exposure notifications on their website when a person (staff or student) attended school while infectious and when there is an increased risk of COVID-19 to the groups they were a part of while infectious.

Additionally, the BC Centre for Disease Control has posted an advisory for a COVID-19 exposure on a flight into Comox on Nov. 6.

The advisory indicated an exposure on WestJet flight 3315 from Calgary into Comox, affecting rows 13-19.

According to the BCCDC, due to a large number of flights with a confirmed COVID-19 case, only flights from the previous seven days are shown on their website; however, it is possible to search in an archive for past flight exposures.

Passengers on a domestic flight with a COVID-19 case should self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days.

For more information on COVID-19 public exposures, visit the BC Centre for Disease Control website at bccdc.ca.
