Several injured in Cumberland car-motorcycle collision

Two people remain in hospital following an accident Wednesday night in Cumberland, in which a car and motorcycle collided near Dunsmuir Avenue.

Two people remain in hospital following an accident Wednesday night in Cumberland, in which a car and motorcycle collided near Dunsmuir Avenue.

According to police, around 8 p.m. a small passenger car was hit while turning left off of Dunsmuir. The two 42-year-old men riding on the motorcycle were transported to hospital.

The passenger in the car remains in hospital in Comox requiring surgery, while the driver was airlifted to hospital in Victoria.

The woman driving the car received medical treatment for her injuries and was later released from hospital. Her young child, seated in a child safety seat, was uninjured in the incident.

RCMP note alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
