Fares for the Comox Valley Transit System are changing July 1.
Cash fares for fixed route service will increase 25 cents from $1.50 to $1.75 for adults and post-secondary students, and from $1.25 to $1.50 for seniors and youth.
Fares for handyDART will increase 50 cents from $1.75 to $2.25.
All other fares, including tickets and monthly passes, will be adjusted accordingly. However, the cost of a dual pass will not change.
In addition, the eligibility for student discount fares has also expanded to include all schools within the system.
The last fare change in Comox Valley was in January 2008.
Funding for the Transit System is cost-shared between the Comox Valley Regional District and BC Transit.
Decisions about fares, routes and service levels are made by the regional district based on information and planning provided by BC Transit.
