Comox Valley RCMP have issued over 30 violation tickets in the past two months as a result of drivers continuing to use their electronic devices while operating a motor vehicle.

It has been two and a half years since the introduction of thenew law in British Columbia that banned the use of electronic devices while driving.

The Comox Valley RCMP Traffic Services section has conducted two operations this past week utilizing the assistance of uniformed police to identify drivers breaking the law.

Police remind drivers that it is an offence under the Motor Vehicle Act to operate, view or hold cell phones or other electronic devices while driving. Fines for such infractions begin at $167.

The result of taking your eyes off the road for just a moment can result in tragedy. Drivers are asked to please pull over, park in a safe and legal manner before using your electronic device.
