Thrifty Foods warns of possibly contaminated chicken sold at Courtenay store

Thrifty Foods is warning members of the public about barbecued chicken pieces produced and sold at the Thrifty Foods Courtenay location Aug. 25 today that the product may have come in contact with a chemical contaminant.

Thrifty Foods is warning members of the public about barbecued chicken pieces produced and sold at the Thrifty Foods Courtenay location Aug. 25 today that the product may have come in contact with a chemical contaminant.

Four four packages of barbecued chicken leg or breast, with the best before date of Aug. 26, 2011, are affected by this alert.

Affected Thrifty Foods brand products are chicken breast with a UPC number of 20608200000 and chicken leg with a UPC of 20608400000.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

Thrifty Foods Courtenay is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace.

Customers may return these affected barbecue chicken products to any Thrifty Foods location for a full refund.
