The skies may have been grey, but the smiles from those cheering on eight Comox Valley/Campbell River riders as part of the 2020 edition of the Tour de Rock lit up the parking lot at the Aspen Co-Op Gas Bar in Comox Thursday.

The tour this year featured alumni riders cycling in their specific geographic area due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The Tour de Rock is generally a two-week, 1,200 km bike ride of a team of first responders who raise money for children and their families affected by pediatric cancer.

To date, TDR has raised more than $26 million for pediatric cancer research and support programs like Camp Goodtimes.

This year, the team has a fundraising goal of $1.3 million.
