A last-minute challenger for mayor has emerged in Comox.

A last-minute challenger for mayor has emerged in Comox, as the nomination period officially closed Friday for the municipal election Nov. 19.

Comox realtor Bernie Poole is challenging incumbent Paul Ives for the mayoral position, while six candidates will challenge the current elected councillors.

In total, 12 people will be vying for six councillor seats.

The candidates running for councillor positions are: Ken Grant, Don Davis, Terry Chester, Russ Arnott, Tom Grant, Dave Procter, Patti Fletcher, Marcia Turner, Maureen Swift, Hugh MacKinnon, Daniel Jackson and Barbara Price.

Eligible voters will be voting for one mayor, six councillors and one school trustee.
