August is here and the Pride Society of the Comox Valley can’t wait to welcome the community to Pride in the Park 2024.
Mark your calendars for Aug. 24 and gather at Simms Millennium Park in the unceded, traditional K'omoks Territory. The festival will immediately follow the Pride Parade in Courtenay, hosted by Queer Culture.
Pride in the Park is a free, accessible, all-ages and family-friendly event. The market has grown to include 46 creative vendors and community groups, with several offering children’s activities. If you’re hungry, three local non-profit organizations will be serving delicious food to raise funds for the important work in the Valley community. And don’t miss the stellar lineup of performances scheduled to hit the stage, hosted by local comedy legend Patti Savard.
This year, Pride celebrations include a full week of events organized by community partners leading up to the parade and Pride in the Park. These include the Pride flag raising by all three municipalities in the Valley, a Pride Pet Walk, the LINC Youth Dance, Pulse on the Plaza, the CVRD Pride Swim, Queeraoke at Gladstone Brewing, the Queer Comedy Cabaret and Sing Out Song Circles. And of course, Queer Culture will round off the weekend with their spectacular Big Top club night at Wayward and the Sunday Drag Brunch.
