This is to provide notice that a public hearing will take place on proposed bylaws for property located at 3284 Second Street.

Subject Property: 3284 Second Street, as shown on the included map. Legally described as Lot 1, Block 5, District Lot 21, Nelson District, Plan 522

In general terms, the purpose of the bylaws is to allow an existing tourist accommodation use, operated as a vacation rental, to continue on the subject property. As provincial regulations now require vacation rental hosts to reside on the property, the applicant wishes to redesignate and rezone the property to allow for the motel use.

Bylaw No. 1228, 2025

The purpose of this bylaw is to change the land use designation on the subject property from Residential Infill to Mixed Use, and include it within Development Permit Area No. 8 – Mixed Use.

Bylaw No. 1229, 2025

The purpose of this bylaw is to amend the R-1A - Infill Residential Zone for this property only, to permit motel use to facilitate the continued operation of a tourist accommodation.

Ways to Participate

Participate in person at the public hearing, to be held at Cultural Centre at 2674 Dunsmuir Avenue on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 5:00 PM.

Written comments may be submitted either in person at the public hearing or in advance up to 4:00pm on the date of the public hearing:

  • by regular mail to the Village Office at Box 340,Cumberland BC V0R 1S0;
  • in person to the Village Office at 2673 Dunsmuir Avenue, Monday to Friday, between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, except on holidays; or,
  • by email to planning@cumberland.ca.

All submissions will become part of the public record and may be made available on the Village website.

This notice is issued pursuant to Sections 466 of the Local Government Act.
