CONARROE, Ada “Joy”

March 19, 1936 – November 22, 2006

It is with joy and sorrow that we announce the passing of Joy, our gift of God, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and friend. After a brief fight with cancer, Mom passed away peacefully with family by her side in the ICU at the Campbell River Hospital.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 50 years, Roy; her six children and their spouses: Debbie, Wayne, Suzanne (Peter), Kevin (Heidi), Sherri (Doug), and Sandy (Greg); thirteen grandchildren: Lee (Kristi), Cindy (Ryan), Dean, Audrey, Nikola, Camille, Joshua, Michael, Alison, Marika, Daniella, Joel, and Austin; brother William (Marilyn); and sister Jeanne (Glen); also numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Joy was born and raised in Victoria, BC to William and Ruth Webster. Joy and Roy were married September 7, 1956. The family remained in Victoria until moving to Comox in 1987. Joy loved to spend her time with family, working in her garden, and she spent recent years involved in volunteer work at Courtenay Fellowship Baptist Church, where she will be remembered by many as “Gramma Joy”. She and Roy had many memorable trips on local waters sailing with family and friends. Joy and Roy also had the privilege of celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary and enjoying an Alaskan Cruise this past September.

Mom had a strong unshakable faith in God and lived life reflecting her Christian beliefs. Her strength of character and quiet wisdom, laughter and listening ear endeared her to all who knew her. She was our foundation on which frequent family suppers and holidays were based and enjoyed. She will be dearly missed.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Campbell River ICU, and St. Joseph’s Hospital for their compassionate care during Mom’s final days.

The service was held on Saturday, November 25, 2006. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca) or to World Vision in Joy’s name would be greatly appreciated.

Philippians 4:6-7

“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
