Passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side. Predeceased by daughter Marcia, and parents Alan & Margaret Woodrow. Leaving to mourn his devoted wife Michele, daughters Leah & Jessica, nephew Joshua and in-laws Ken & Donna Nelson. Danny left a large family of siblings, Bruce (Cathie) in Victoria, Robin (Diana) in Courtenay, Neil (Kristie) in Courtenay, Debbie (Brian) in Campbell River and Gerry (Mike) in Courtenay as well as an extended family of nieces and nephews that he loved very much.

Danny was born and lived his life in the Comox Valley. He spent his youth playing music and was an accomplished piano and saxophone player. He enjoyed many years as a young teenager playing with Ma King in the The Four Kings Band.

Danny began his working career at Island Ready Mix and articled to become a Certified General Accountant. In these early years he also found time to experience sitting on council as an alderman alongside George Hobson. In 1968 he traded his suit for workboots and a stanfield and started potato farming with his brother Robin on Knight Road in Comox. Many happy years were spent on the farm. In the early 80’s Danny and a partner built the Farmers Market on Cliffe Avenue which was a town outlet for the crops from the farm. It thrived for years with the produce market, butcher shop and retail shops surrounding. Times got tough, the interest rate went up to 24% and Danny sold the building, kept the farm but dug out his suit and became a stockbroker. Although this was an interesting career Danny went back to his first love which was farming and working the land. He retired in 2003 after selling the farm and began to travel.

Danny was an adventurer and lived his life with gusto. He rode a motorcycle, flew an airplane, sailed the seas in his boat and travelled the world. He had a very generous spirit that touched his large family and many friends. He will be missed.

Danny had many health challenges in the last 10 years but never complained and his spirit was always strong. Michele would like to give special thanks to the following people for their support during this time. John & Lisa Zuk - good friends and neighbours, Emergency Staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dr. Burry & Nurse Cathie at Valley Care Medical, Rita at the Pacemaker Clinic in Campbell River, Dr. Weir & the Kidney Care Clinic at Royal Jubilee in Victoria.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, August 4th at 1:00pm at Piercy’s Funeral Home in Courtenay with a reception to follow.
