We sadly announce the passing of Albert Wain at St. Joseph’s hospital extended care on March 16, 2009. Albert was born Dec. 5, 1919 at Beaver Meadow Farm, the home of the pioneer Pearse family, in Minto.

He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Rose Watson, wife, Jean and brothers, Reginald and Marvin Watson. Left to mourn are daughters: Joan (Ted) Stevens, Linda (Bill) Simpson and Heather (Dennis) Forrest; sister, Elvina (Al) Kilpatrick and brother, Wilfred ( Agnes) Watson; grandchildren: Steve (Mary) McColeman, Deborah McColeman, Robert (Laura) Stevens, Cliff (DeeDee) Wain and great-grandchildren: Dylan, Jonathon, Nicholes, Carmen and Danielle.

Albert worked for the Canadian Collieries in the mines and in Union Bay before and after his 1941 to 1946 army time. He worked for many years in Tahsis until his retirement. His main interests were gardening, fishing, hiking the outdoors and music. He played in the Jimmy Walker and Country Club orchestras which were popular in the early days of the valley.

The family wishes to thank Albert’s friends for their visits to him in hospital and all the staff and volunteers of Eagleview and Oceanview who took such great care of him in the past two years.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Albert’s memory may be made to the Comox Valley Hospice Society.
