MATHOT, Alfred Dennis

Alfred (Alfie) Mathot passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital in Comox on March 7, 2010. He was a long-time resident of Cumberland before moving to Comox, and he enjoyed going to church there and visiting with all his friends at weekly get-togethers.

He liked to go swimming, dancing and was an enthusiastic bowler, but his favorite activity was attending the races at Saratoga Speedway with the whole family to cheer on "da". He took part in many community activities with his friends in Courtenay and his ready smile and willingness to lend a hand with any project will be surely missed.

Alfie was part of the Powell family for over forty years - he loved children and as the kids grew up and had babies of their own, he was always there with a hug and a cuddle for the little ones.

We would like to give heartfelt thanks to the people at the Satori Program for spending so many long hours at the hospital and helping the family members with his care - their compassion and dedication helped us through a very difficult time. I would also like to thank the nurses who took such great care of Alfie during his last stay at St. Joes.

We are holding a Celebration of Life for Alfie on Tuesday, March 16, 1:00pm at Satori, 241 Puntledge Road, Courtenay.
