August 2, 1940 - June 5, 2019
It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye and good journey to a great man, Alvin Olesen.
Al was born in Chauvin, Alberta where he was raised on the family farm. He loved curling, dogs, and nature, and had a strong sense of civic duty. Alvin joined the RCAF in 1962 (where he was given the alias "Ole") and proudly served his country for 20 years in various capacities before transferring to the calibration center at CFB Esquimalt, where he remained until his retirement in 1995. In 1996, Al and Maureen returned to the Comox Valley to build their retirement dream home together.
Many will miss Al as his playful nature could always bring a smile to anyone who knew him.
Al is predeceased by his parents Peter and Marjorie Olesen, sister Jean, and brother Gordon. He is survived by his wife Maureen, their children Tatijana (Andy) Yung and Bradley (Michelle) Olesen, and sister Karen.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the extraordinary staff in the Special Care Unit at Glacier View Lodge who became part of our family.
Please join in Celebrating Al's Life at his family home on the 20th of July, 2 pm - 4 pm. RSVP by contacting the Olesen family.
