Alvina Lynn

Allen (nee: Goulet)

1921-2002

Alvina “Lynn” Allen, of Courtenay, passed away at home on the 28th of July 2002, at age 81. She is survived by her loving husband George of 55 years, son Ronald, grandchildren: Mark (Lindsey) Russell, Robin (Colin) McBride, Sean Allen, Jasmin Allen and Linden Allen, and Harvey Russell, Carol Allen Jeans, Rick Jeans.

Lynn was born in Manitoba and raised in Saskatchewan. She served with the Canadian Army in Borden, England for 2 1/2 years during World War II. Shortly after returning from the war, she married George and lived on various Air Force bases with him until they settled in the Comox Valley in 1967. She loved to dance. She and George danced several times a week and even at 80 she could outdance most people half her age. She also loved to play bridge and enjoyed spending time in her garden. She will be remembered by her kind and forgiving nature. She was a happy person who could always be heard singing a tune while she worked.

Lynn and her family would like to thank all of the home care workers, doctors, nurses, friends and neighbors, and special mention to Al Williams for their kindness, friendship and loving care provided during her illness.

A Memorial Service was held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Comox, at 1:30 pm on Thursday, August 1, at the Upper Hall, Comox Legion.

In lieu of flowers donations in Lynn’s memory can be made to the local Canadian Cancer Society and Home Care Nursing Service.
