Jan 29, 1932 - Apr 4, 2018
Born in Prince Rupert in January 1932 Andy was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. Andy passed away peacefully in Campbell River BC April 4, 2018.

Predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Irene in August of 2016 and survived by his 3 sons Don (Lynn), Rick (Pam) and Rob (Carmel), his sister Glenis (Norm), his brother David (Caroline), 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Andy's primary career was the Fire Service which started in 1963 and finished 25 years later with his retirement in 1988. During that time Andy served as Fire Chief for the City of Terrace BC, Tranquille BC and City of Coquitlam BC, finishing his career as the fire safety - loss prevention officer for BC Buildings Corporation. Andy served on the executive committee of the Fire Chiefs Association of BC (FCABC) for 6 years, was elected President of the FCABC in 1973 and was awarded an Honorary Lifetime Membership in 1981. Andy was an active member of the Institute of Fire Engineers and served as the President of the BC Branch in 1974.

Andy went on to serve in a volunteer capacity during his retirement where Irene and Andy volunteered at the seniors centers both in Courtenay and in Campbell River and actively participated in the Meals on Wheels program for those in need.

Andy loved family and together with Irene spent much of their available time with their 3 sons, their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whether it be camping, golfing or attending kids sporting events such as hockey, basketball and baseball they would be there supporting and cheering on.

Andy was always there for people when they needed him, a loyal, soft spoken and generous man that will be missed by many.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Terrace BC later this summer followed by Andy and Irene being interned together at the Terrace Cemetery as per their wishes.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada or a charity of your choice.
